Carbon Competition

last updated by Thomas Skarbek-Wazynski on Tue 01st Nov 2011
The Carbon Competition is a project running across certain campus residences to monitor their utility usage. This year, the Carbon Competition is running in Pendle, and Grizedale and County Eco-Residences (Townhouses). The competition aims to encourage students to be more conscious of their utility usage and make steps to reduce their impact on the environment.

To encourage this, prizes are up for grabs! These range from ‘trolley dashes’ to VIP nights out! There mayalso be prizes for the most improved flats throughout the term.

The Carbon Competition is a partnership project between Green Lancaster, Lancaster University’s Facilities department and UPP. Data provided as part of the Competition is recorded via meters installed in the participating residences. Whilst Green Lancaster, Facilities and UPP do their utmost to ensure for the provision of accurate data, from time-to-time technical problems can result in inaccurate readings for a minority of individual residences. Hence, data and standings provided on this website should be taken as an approximation of the cumulative energy consumption and performance in any particular residence. Green Lancaster reserves the right to amend data and positions to provide a more accurate representation of any residences’ performances as part of the Competition.
