LESS Off The Ground Project

Green Lancaster has teamed up with LESS to over students a fantastic opportunity to get involved in an award winning and innovative community growing project in Lancaster. As well as benefiting local residents, the project is currently working with 18 local organisations and school groups.

Volunteers on this project will help  the team at the main allotment site, situated in the Ridge area of Lancaster, and also help deliver training and support sessions with the local organisations and schools. There will also be opportunities to assist in planning and deliver the various community-wide events held throughout the year.

Volunteer Role
  • Maintain community allotment site
  • Support local groups with growing projects
  • Plan district wide events
Commitments
  • Attend all induction and training events
  • Attend placement one morning or afternoon a week
  • Help out at events
  • Attend end of year plenary session
Impacts
  • Improve biodiversity of local area
  • Reduce reliance on supermarket produce and save local people money
  • Reduce carbon footprint and ‘food miles’ of local residents
